Port of Ilwaco
(Ilwaco, WA)

For the Port of Ilwaco, in Southwest Washington State, LTR wrote the 6-year Marina Master Plan. This document identified the needs of the Port of Ilwaco and described the implementation details of putting this plan into action. Interviewed over a dozen stakeholders who represented the customers of the Port and the City of Ilwaco. The outcome of these interviews was a list of candidate projects. Each candidate project was evaluated in terms of benefits, costs and time to completion. This document has been used to secure federal, state, and county funding for candidate projects.

Regional canola / mustard growers in Umatilla and Union counties sought market opportunities for over 30,000 acres of producing oilseed crops. LTR was engaged to research and recommend a business development strategy for investment. Our goal: develop profitable niche market opportunities and provide new jobs for area residents and increase county tax revenues.

LTR assessed DePaul Industries' capabilities and market opportuniites, weighing market attractiveness and alternatives with success factors for each segment. Business plan for diversification included long-term financial sensitivity analysis and specific marketing tactical plan for growth.

State-sponsored county development counceil sought to establish asset-mapping methodology and "industry clusters" from which to initiate business and community collaboration for business development. LTR participated in grass-roots planning and coordination of an October 2003 leadership conference to mobilize business leaders around cluster-based dialogues.

New startup, building upon a wireless network of interactive consumer displays sought entry into national retail chains for its "electronic sales assistance". LTR developed Pixio's comprehensive business plan, winning first prize in the Portland Business Journal business plan competition in 2002. LTR also sought and secured venture financing, recruited senior executives, and developed initial markets, medial positioning, and tactical market development plans.

Control program for invasive cordgrass (Spartina Alterniflora) involves controvercial herbicide application on environmentallly sensitive tidelands. LTR provides ongoing media visibility, public education, and legislative advocacy of Refuge progrmas to secure public support and government funding.
